When I was in my mid-30’s, my father admitted to me that he molested me when I was a very young child. He said that he “took care of it” by going to the bishop. He never said that he was sorry. He never stopped looking at me in a sexual way. Nothing changed. Yet he said that he was clean because he had confessed it to the bishop.
The bishop never reported it. The bishop never followed up to make sure it was not recurring.
A young child can remember things and I remember. This has a led to a lifetime of issues for me.
The LDS church needs to stop looking the other way during confessions of criminals.
