My husband is a retired police officer. There have been many times when he was investigating child abuse cases where bishops and other church leaders would not cooperate with the investigations. They stated this was a matter being handled within the church. They would not give any information. They were protecting the perpetrator, and the churches reputation, more than the child that was a victim. Some cases were closed because of the lack of cooperation from the church. If anyone reading this knows of anyone that’s a victim, tell them DO NOT go to your priest, pastor, bishop. GO TO THE POLICE. They have resources to help victims, counselors that are educated and trained in these delicate and serious situations. STOP THE ABUSE!! The more open we are to talk about this, the more comfortable victims will be to also talk about it and not feel ashamed. We can’t deny this is happening any longer. SPEAK OUT! LOVE LOUD!!
