I am a very active member of the LDS church. I served as a young women’s leader. During the time I served, a couple of the young women I had stewardship over, had messed up but went into Bishop ______ to clear up their mistakes. These beautiful young women went in willingly and sought forgiveness. What happened is that they left his office feeling worse then they arrived. They had both had sex with high school boyfriends and wanted to confess and start the road to repentance. Instead of embracing these young women for being courageous and telling them their savior loved them, he asked a series of probing, inappropriate questions including, “did you orgasm?” “How many fingers did he insert inside you?” “How many positions did you alternate between?” These girls were 16 and although they had messed up, were naive to what these kind of questions meant. It’s been three years since both of their experiences happened and have experienced self loathing, shame and one of them tried to kill herself recently because she felt she was so unworthy. Another one of my young women came out as a lesbian when she was 15 and this same bishop went over to her home and told her she was no longer welcome at church. Where is the Christlike servitude in this behavior?
