As a 14 year old, I was in a relationship with a high school junior. This boy convinced me to enter a slightly sexual relationship with him. Being 14 and in love, I didn’t know any better. I felt like I was sexually assaulted by him. Things he tried to do to me, hurt.
What hurt more was the fact that I was taught that I would go to the Telestial Kingdom with the murderers. I told my parents, and went to talk to the bishop. The bishop was a good man, but he asked so many inappropriate questions. I had no idea how inappropriate they were. Questions like, “how many fingers did he use?” “Did you orgasm?” “Where exactly did he touch your genitals?” “How did he touch them?” “How did you touch his penis?” “Did he climb on top of you?” “Did you dry hump?” “Did he ejaculate?” “Did you like it?”
More than 10 years later, with a child of my own, I am absolutely appalled at these questions. I would be furious if my child was asked those questions by a church leader. This cause is just, and so far, the church will do nothing for us. Sound familiar? The church needs to change and stand for what is right.
