When my brother Keith was in high school he had an interview with our local bishop, who was a cruel, condescending and judgmental person. Keith confessed to some sexual activity with a girl and the bishop shamed him, put him down and left him completely devastated. That night my father came home and Keith had a shotgun in his mouth. Keith ended up in the hospital on a suicide watch and then at a center to get help. Keith struggled with depression and had a very difficult life. I feel that these discussions with his bishop exasperated the problem on many occasions. Even my father, a very devout LDS man, did not like Keith going to see this man but felt powerless because he believed the man was called of God. This man should have never been left alone with any child. He was mentally abusive and cruel.
